Video #16 - Do You Respect the Law?

Something has drastically shifted in Christianity.  Collectively, as a body of believers, we have lost a respect for the law – God’s law.  I’m not saying that we are blatantly disregarding it and throwing it out the window. Nor am I saying that we have a “do whatever you want to and who cares what God thinks” kind of mindset.  That’s not what I’m talking about.  I’m referring to a smorgasbord mentality when it comes to Scripture. 

Let me explain.

We tend to treat the Bible like a buffet table.  We read God’s Word, and then pick and choose which laws - which principles - which standards - which Biblical truths we like.  We then choose to obey and follow them, leaving the rest to “the irrelevancy of Bible times.”  In Psalm 19:7, King David tells us that God’s law, ALL of God’s law is perfect. 

So, here’s my question for you:   Is that how you view the Bible?  Can you say as David did in Psalm 110:72 that “the law of (God’s) mouth is better to me than thousands of gold and silver pieces”?  Another way to put that verse is like this:  God’s Word is better to me than all the pornographic images in the world, God’s Word is better to me than all the lustful thoughts and fantasies I could ever think or dream! 

Can you honestly cry out “Oh how I love your law!  It is my meditation all the day” (Psa. 119:97)?

• Do you “love (God’s) commandments above gold, above fine gold.”
• Do you love His Word more than you do sexual impurity?
• Do you love God MORE than porn?   MORE than lust?   MORE than masturbation?
• Do you “consider all (God’s) precepts to be right” (Psa. 119:127-128)?  In other words, do you completely trust in the fact that God really does know & want what’s best for you?

My friend  ...  If you want genuine, lasting victory over sexual impurity in your life – you must open your Bible daily!  You must choose to  “Read in it all the days of (your) life … (you must) learn to fear the Lord (your) God (HOW?) by keeping all the words of (God’s) law and (His) statutes, and do them” (Deut. 17:19)! 

Please listen to me very carefully here   ...  Don’t let “this Book of the Law depart from your mouth, but (choose to) meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it.  For then you will make your way prosperous” … then you will know victory over lust and sexual impurity in your life (Josh. 1:8)!

God’s word is perfect!  It’s complete, it’s whole, it’s entire  -  lacking in nothing.  In other words, it has the answer for every problem you will ever face - including sexual temptation.  God’s Word gives you every weapon you will ever need for every battle you will ever fight; and it will help you slay the 3-headed dragon of lust, pornography and masturbation.  As David says in Psalm 18:30,  “(Our) God – his way is perfect; the word of the Lord proves true; he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him.”

So, here’s my personal challenge to you.  Are you ready?   Every day - choose to make the time to dig into God’s Word.  It will revive you.  It will refresh you.  It will restore you.  It will help you to say NO to lust and sexual impurity and it will show you how to `return to the God who loves you.
